Parmesan Breadsticks

I often make breadsticks with ready made puff pastry. We either coat it with brown sugar and cinnamon or Parmesan cheese. I had some leftover pastry from a quiche I made, and decided to try and make bread sticks with it as well. They turned out great and the kids want a whole lot more.  As they were eating the sticks, I had to say “Stop! I should probably put this on my blog. I need to take a picture.”

Pastry -which can be used for any type of savoury baking

120 g whole wheat flour

130 g plain flour

120 g cold butter

1/4-12 cup skim milk

Ing for Bread Sticks

Pastry (see above)

Parmesan cheese

1. Mix flour and butter together in a food processor or stand mixer. When it is starting to come together add milk. Once it forms into a ball you have added enough milk. Keep it in a covered container for 20 minutes in the refrigerator.

2. Roll until 1/4 inch thick. Cut into strips. Brush with a little bit of mustard.

3. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese

4. Twirl pastry. Place on cookie sheet and bake on the bottom rack at 425 F for 30 minutes or until golden brown.

5. Best served warm.

Wow! I love parmesan toast, I serve it almost every night. This take on it will definitely be in this week’s dinner! 😉
